Since the advent of Compact Discs and DVD's the cassette industry has so declined that other aspects of the ministry of Upper Room Outeach and of C W Bush have of necessity begun to take precedent.

Wes Bush, the founder of Upper Room Outreach, has, because of health, been forced to move to Alamogordo, NM and at the time he moved, he though that he only had about a year to live.

As it turns out. he is still alive and vital after 5 years; and, God is using him to change the nature of recovery ministry in Alamogordo and the surrounding area.

Wes has founded Freedom Ministries which comprises Freedom House Recovery Center, Housing up to 15 men who are reentering society after incarceration, Freedom Gate Entry Home, housing up to 8 recovering addicts during the first 3 months of sustained recovery, and Freedom Women's Residence, housing up to 18 women who are reentering society after a period of incarceration.

Wes has also acquired a 7000 sq. ft. church and an open worship congregation is quickly forming, where all who attend are welcomed regardless of yheir doctrinal beliefs; and, are welcome to share anything the Holy Spirit gives them an unction to share. There is no paid pastor or staff and money is used for charity at "The Gathering Place."

The History of the Upper Room Ministry
The Upper Room Outreach was established in 1968 for the purpose of helping small churches and ministries acquire blank cassettes, books, and supplies at prices normally available to much larger purchases.

It was originally named the Lee McAllister Foundation, in honor of one of the early pioneers in Christian cassette ministry. The name was changed in 1980 when the foundation opened a Christian bookstore and counseling ministry in Arlington, Texas.

In 1973, the foundation created Mobile Ministries, a traveling Christian bookstore that reached small, remote communities that had limited access to Christian books. Usually, the store would be parked in front of the local supermarket or town square to give folks the opportunity to purchase items normally found in any large Christian bookstore.

In 1980, after 202,000 miles, the outreach became a nationwide supplier of Christian books, blank cassettes, cassette duplicators, cassette duplication, store fixtures and other items needed by Christian Merchants. During the next few years Upper Room Outreach employed as many as 16 people in order to maintain the cassette libraries and supply the cassette duplicates for a number of large ministries scattered through out the USA.

Tragedy struck October 15, 1992, when a teenage arsonist, showing off to friends, set fire to the bookstore, destroying thousands of dollars of under-insured books, tapes, supplies, furniture and equipment; and, the priceless and unreplaceable master cassette library of Lee McAlister Foundation. Tragedy struck again in June of 1993 when the same arsonist torched Upper Room's warehouse, destroying most of what remained of the ministry's assets and all but closing the ministry's doors financially.

In faith, a plea for help was raised and many wonderful friends of the ministry responded with enough to help Upper Room continue supplying quality blank audio and video cassettes and related recording supplies. However, it was not possible to rebuild the book store building; so, Upper Room Outreach began offering only cassette tapes, video cassettes, duplication and cassette packaging. Throughout the years it has been our policy to place ministry before business therefore, Upper Room operates on both contributions and the very small markup on the products it offers. After carefully comparing the items included in this catalog with those distributed by others, we are confident that you will discover the help that Upper Room can truly be to any recording endeavor.
