About UCF
Meet the Founder
Wes Bush was born August 5, 1931 in Weleetka, Oklahoma to Charles Franklin Bush and Delia Delora Bush, both to be born again and baptized with the Holy Ghost shortly thereafter .
Wes himself was born again in January 1968, at age 37, after 31 years of rebellious living!
Thirty-one years addicted to cigarettes (first smoked in an act of rebellion at age 6), twenty-nine years an alcoholic (after starting to drink at age 8), always wanting with all his heart to serve the Lord but never able to lay aside those sins that so easily beset him.
Not knowing that he, Wes, did not have to first be good in order to accept Christ who would, through His recreating power, set him free, which is what He did in answer to his wife, Margaret's, prayers one January day in 1968 while Wes was driving in noon hour traffic, thinking about going to get drunk.
Wes' Background
Wes had an intense desire to serve God. He talked his parents into letting him attend Southwestern Assembly Of God College in Waxahachie, Texas which, at that time had a Junior High and High School as well as a College.
The first half of his sophomore high school year was spent at Waco High School in Waco, Texas.
One day after turning 15, Wes fraudulently enlisted into the army where he spent the next six months. His parents were finally able to get the army to discharge him and send Wes home. He promptly obtained a High School Diploma from Southwestern Assemblies Of God College after showing them the papers that documented his successful completion of the G.E.D. examination he had taken while in the army.
Wes went on to study five semesters at Baylor University in Waco, Texas as a Business Major.
From 1948 through 1971, Wes worked with residential and commercial design and construction. In 1971 he founded Lee McAlister Foundation. He built and operated the "Mobile Ministries Traveling Christian Book Store" which served small, remote communities with Christian Books, recordings and Christian supplies. In 1980 the name of Lee McAlister Foundation was changed to Upper Room Outreach, a Christian book, recording supply CD and cassette duplication ministry for ministries and churches throughout the USA.
Wes also is the
Founder and Director of several outreach groups, including Brothers Of Christ International, a Christian brotherhood and ordaining group; River Of Life Publishers, Freedom Ministries, Community Treasure Chest and the United Christian Fund which targets individual contributors to respond to published appeals in behalf of persons who suffer financial tragedy.
FREEDOM MINISTRIES is the most recent outreach of Brothers of Christ International, sponsoring several residences for alcoholics, addicts and individuals reentering society after periods of incarceration.
FREEDOM GATE is an entry program of recovery allowing the addict an opportunity to fulfill 90 consecutive days of sobriety and freedom from drugs, as well as to solidify his/her committment to Jesus Christ in whom true freedom rests.
FREEDOM HOUSE is a continuing program of recovery, allowing the addict, alcoholic and/or parolee to gain full freedom from addictions, habits, obsessions and other demonic influences that tend to cause failure and return to their old ways and sometimes to prison.
FREEDOM CORPS, affording the resident enrollee's enough employment to pay their tuition in the Freedom Ministries recovery programs, often making the difference in whether the enrollee is able to complete the 1 year required to complete the full Freedom Recovery Curriculum.
THE GATHERING PLACE where worship is open to all who gather together and each is offerred access to the pulpit to share whatever God places on their heart to share.
THE SPOKESMEN USA non-religious, Christian based, conservative community voice in print, inviting articles from all and distributing to all who desire to participate.
Wes also Inspired the creation of United Community Fund, encouraging Lee Melby, located in Chandler, Arizona, to take that ball and run with it. In it's original concept, United Community Fund was to be to the business world what United Christian Fund is to the individual, helping charities, churches, businesses and other organizations to each respond to one appeal each month published by UCF in behalf of such an organization in need within their community. Although the concept for United Community Fund has greatly expanded, it has not become fully functional yet.
UCF Community Treasure Chest , one of the three latest charity tools God has inspired through Wes, is destined to be a major influence to persuade commercial locations in every community to open its premises to a "Treasure Chest " program through which any sponsored Community Organization such as Orphanages, Christian Schools and Community Betterment groups may be dramatically blessed.
UCF Charity Auctions, to create and staff franchised locations within fairs, flea markets, malls and arenas for the purpose of auctioning contributed estate goods, autos, RV's, motorhomes, airplanes and real estate, the base bid price of each item to be funded to the charity designated by the contributor; and 85% of any amount above that to be retained by the particular charity franchising the auction location.
